Found: Mexican Coca-Cola
As a home owner, I find myself at Home Depot more than I care to mention but my last few trips have been well worth it because I recently discovered that they sell Mexican Coca-Cola. Now, you might be wondering, "Is there a real difference between Mexican Coke and U.S. Coke?" The answer is a resounding "Yes."

For Sale: Childhood Dream House
In order to celebrate Mother's Day, I decided to show case the house of one of the worst mother's of all time (although she totally redeems herself by enduring countless hours of polka music on route to seeing her son). For the cool price of 2.4 million dollars, you can own The McCallister's house and live the dream of every child from the 80s and early 90s Wet Bandits not included.

Super Moon
View from D.C.
If you spent anytime outside last night, you might have noticed that the moon looked extra bright and extra close. And as the father of a son that loves all things involving the moon and outerspace, I made sure he witnessed this event before heading off to bed.

Quote:
Where's your Christmas spirit?
I was vaccinated against it when I was just a little boy.

Axes: Tool or Art?
Peter Buchanan-Smith of Best Made Co.
By now, everyone should be familiar with the crescendo for authenticity within the style blogsphere and the fever pitch moment that occurred when Gilt pushed axes as great father's day gifts, but you may not know the story behind the ax or the man who became uneasy when his product went viral. Well, thanks to The New Times, the story is now revealed. Meet designer Peter Buchanan-Smith and learn that along with his talent for making axes, he advised Isaac Mizrahi and Philip Glass on graphic design, redesigned Paper magazine and won a Grammy for an album cover he made for his favorite band, Wilco.

Hickoree's Old Time Sling Shot
Always wanted one of these.
This classic sling shot is hand made from branches of the Buckthorn bush, a European hedge plant commonly found in suburban neighborhoods in Minnesota, and now considered an invasive species. Buckthorn's hard "Y" branches are perfect for sling shots, and harvesting Buckthorn wood helps with efforts to control the species.

Soap Box Derby
Soap Box Derby
I always wanted to be in a Soap Box Derby. You don't see them around anymore but I think it's a classic American tradition that should be placed in the forefront. I'm not that handy with a hammer but I would love to put one together for my kids someday.

Treehouse: The Ultimate Secret Fort
The Wall Street Journal had a great article on a upscale Treehouse the other day and it had me thinking about how I always wanted a treehouse growing up. We currently live in a new development that hardly has any trees, but I would love to move to an older neighborhood with well established trees to make one of my dreams a reality for my children.
Did you have a treehouse? Did you want a treehouse? Have any interesting treehouse stories to tell? Leave a comment.

Ipad Arcade
I don't know if this will ever move beyond the conceptual stage, but the Ipad Arcade Cabinet ($150) is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

Breakfast & Bulldozers
My son is a very picky eater. One week he will be on a hot dog kick and then the next week he wants nothing to do with hot dogs. So in order to accommodate his pickiness, my wife and I had to start getting creative with his food. One successful idea was serving his breakfast in a bulldozer.
And with that story in mind, join me in my attempt to enter the world of tumblr at Breakfast & Bulldozers. This will be a place where I'll post anything from Alex's Picks to other great things for your little ones.
