Sequel to The Official Preppy Handbook
Pre-order your copy of True Prep (the sequel to The Official Preppy Handbook) by Lisa Birnbach at Amazon. The release date is set for August 10, 2010. Click here to download the pdf sample of the book. True Prep along with the reissue of Take Ivy could possibly make this a very special August for all of us.

Thanks for the heads up. It will be interesting to see where she takes this.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I'm curious about how this is going to turn out.
ReplyDeleteIt seems we're all in agreement about a *very* high curiosity factor. Have a splendid weekend!

I'm not so sure how preppy J.Crew or Cole Haan are. I have a bad feeling about this new book.
ReplyDeleteGood point Nicholas. I was thinking the same thing with Cole Hann.
ReplyDeleteJ.Crew has taken all things that were originally obscure and made them available to anyone with access to a mall. Thus, a true prep does not support them aside from a few items here and there and has boycotted all "exclusives" that they may have or styles that they have exhausted. The G&T is a great drink, but alas, it too has become tired and consumed by quidos who were pink shirts because thats what they think preps drink; I have not completely forsaken the beverage but now drink gin rickeys. Cole Hahn are garbage,Tods, alden and obscure loafers purchased whilst in Italy should be worn.
ReplyDeleteI buy chinos from J.Crew because no one else seems to make a size 28 waist but I certainly don't advertise that I buy them there. Otherwise I feel their clothes are aimed more at the metro/workwear/NYC crowd. I refuse to opt out of g&t's though; regardless of how many are sold in the Paramus, NJ area. Order it with a Bombay non-sapphire to discretely let the bartender know you summer on the island.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there are two separate Nicholas' (Nicholases?) here, just to clarify.
nice use of summer as a verb. My cohorts typically refer to said destination as "out east" or simply "the country," both acceptable and well known to be all destinations south of the highway east of hampton bays. Another good drink would be the soutside, I will not comment any further as I have alredy compromised its sacredness.
ReplyDeleteWhat's in a southside?
ReplyDeleteIf any of y'all have forgotten what the Official Preppy Handbook is all about before the launch of the much awaited True Prep, here's something you'll enjoy:

The original Take Ivy is also on the website: http://www.pleasurablerevelation.com/2010/03/take-ivy.html
This piece of garbage was the most mass-market ill-informed Liberal tool that I have ever seen. You cannot become a so-called "True Prep" by buying a few piece of clothing and reading an idiotic book. These people IMHO appear to have been out to milk the original witty classic by presenting this dribble to a stupid general public and make the masses think they can enter a world they have never known by purchasing a paperback. Toss.
