The Lunar Module: From Model to the Moon

Early 1960s model of the Lunar Excursion Module

I love seeing things go from concept to construction. So I was super excited when I came across the development of the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM), which ultimately helped Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin Jr, set foot on the moon on July 20, 1969.

Apollo's 11 LEM was named the Eagle. Here you can see the Eagle in lunar orbit after detaching from Columbia.
