Fisher Space Pen

I always considered myself a pencil guy until a few years ago when I opened up an old moleskin notebook and found most of the writings illegible. Since then, I've carried many pens but my favorite by far is Fisher's, whose pen has been used by NASA on all space missions since 1967. And as a fan of all things space related, if it's good enough for NASA then it's good enough for me.

Looks like J.Crew teamed up with Timex again and developed this great timepiece: The Andros Watch.

Canvas Duffle Bag Roundup

Canvas Duffle Roundup

While hanging out with Joe Gannon this past weekend, I noticed that he was carrying all of his gear in a beautiful canvas bag from Wharf. So I decided to roundup my favorite canvas duffles that's currently on the market.

Orvis Battenkill Briefcase: Then & Now

Orvis Battenkill Then & Now

When I first arrived at the office of my new job, I quickly noticed that everyone was carrying Orvis briefcases to work. I talked to a few people and expressed my interest in the bag and (low and behold) a few days later; I was surprised with one of my own. Not wanting to miss an opportunity, I asked one of the partners if I could quickly compare my new bag with his 10 year old one.

Fingerless Gloves Roundup

Fingerless Gloves

If you're like me, then you're addicted to your touch screen phone (which can become a big problem during the winter); so why not grab some fingerless gloves and have the best of both worlds. Here are a few my favorites.

Re-sail / Re-visited

Although I posted on this company in the past; a host of new products and a mention in True Prep, warranted a revisit to my favorite store in Annapolis, Maryland: Re-sail.

My Left Back Pocket

I've been thinking about purchasing a handkerchief from Hickorees for some time now but then I decided to be true to myself and go with something that means a lot to me: scouting.

Jack Spade X Seersucker

As the temperature heats up, why not cool off with a little seersucker from Jack Spade. Switch your favorite leather good for one of Spade's seersucker pieces and it will politely tell your co-workers to speed things up because you have a ferry to catch at Woods Hole.

Billykirk No. 155 Card Case

After going back and forth about which model of Billykirk's beautiful wallets to purchase for Father's Day, I settled on the No. 155 Card Case and let me just say, this piece surpassed all my expectations.

Making The Case: Monogrammed Belt Buckle

For the past week now, I've been wearing my LL Bean Signature Belt nonstop and it got me thinking that maybe it's about time to start wearing my own signature on a belt; in the form of a monogram.
While often neglected on many wardrobes and by many blogs, the belt for me can be the ultimate piece that pulls everything together. The wrong belt buckle can tragically send the message that you have no idea what you're doing but the right belt buckle can confidently portray the notion that you constantly swim in the deep end of the style pool.

In the September issues of GQ in 2004, under the heading, "The only thing my father ever game me," Andy Spade answered,
He didn't give me anything, including child support. But he figured it was his job to take me to the one men's store in town, in Scottsdale Arizona, and get me a monogrammed belt. I wear a belt every day.
The reason why the silver belt buckle is marked number one in the accessory section of The Official Preppy Handbook is because it properly and literally holds the outfit together. As the belt stretches across your waist, it can simultaneously stretch across generations and traditions if done correctly. However, don't be afraid to play with these traditions.

Closer Look: Secret Fort's Timex Expedition Camper

Last month, Secret Forts (one of my favorite blogs), decided to give us a glimpse into his daily attire and asseccories. Besides the Ebbetts Field Flannel cap and Moscot glasses that I truly love, the one thing that stood out to me was his Timex Expedition Camper with Nato Band. Secret Forts links Target for the Expedition but after closer inspection, the one at Target is a little different.

Secret Forts

Target

Besides the date display, the hands are different on the watches. Secret Fort's hands has a more classic clean look while Target's seem a little bulky. The good news is that after a little research, I found the exact watch on Amazon and its $5 cheaper.
And since J.Crew is no longer selling their Timex online, this is a great pickup.

*Update 2/25/10 Timex Watches at J.crew are now restocked.

Jack Spade Moose Hat

It's probably been five years since I blew the chance to purchase this hat from Jack Spade and it still smarts. From the red, white and blue colors to the funny Moose depiction, this hat was perfect in every way and I let it slip through my fingers! I didn't realize how exclusive some of the item were at the time until it disappeared one day from the site. Lesson learned.

I was thinking about writing Andy an email to see if Jack Spade could bring the moose hat back to celebrate their new clothing line. Wish me luck and have a great weekend!

The Banker Bag

Lehman Brothers
Great find by the Disaffected Prep. I didn't know about the cool factor of these gym bags until I read the Vitals article on the new preppy guidebook. Then I saw A Continuous Lean's post on the banker bag and  was sold. I love the colors of this bag and if a collection of Lehman Brothers gear is good enough for Andy Spade then it is good enough for me.
